Mobile Power

I ordered a USB socket from Amazon.  With the help of my friend Billy, I did a custom installation on the bike so I can charge my devices while Bravo and I are cruising.  It's also connected to a switch so I can be sure it doesn't drain the battery when the bike isn't running.  The USB jack provides the voltage status of the battery which can help me identify any problems with the battery and alternator if/when something goes wrong.

This new addition to the bike will help me keep my phone charged along with most of the other devices I'm carrying.  A GoPro Fusion, Hero 7 Black, and Session 4.  I have two battery banks, one is an Outdoor Tech Kodiak Plus and the other is made by Lifeproof.  At some point I'll also have to figure out how I can charge my laptop.  It's a toss up between a 12 volt charger or a small inverter that would allow me to charge other devices that require AC power.  My main concern with the latter is putting too much demand on the alternator leading to early breakdown.  The good news is that the alternator is one of the cheaper parts to replace no matter where we are in the world.

So far the power port seems to be working well.  I went for a five hour ride to Bentonville and back last week and was able to keep my phone charged at 100% the whole time.
